Absolutely brilliant concept album. Catholicism, Irish tradition, history and culture. The themes of the songs often carry the pains and the triumphs of Irish history from the celebrated battle of Clontarf extolled in ‘Pláit agus Domhnaill’, through the Catholic persecutions of the 16th and 17th centuries, the overall suppression and poverty of the indigenous people in the 18th and 19th centuries, the Famine and then into the 20th century and the fight for freedom of Home Rule. If you love Ireland, and love Catholicism, and only buy one album during the whole of this year …… make it this one! The complete presentation which includes the CD and wonderful 116 page book costs €20 with postage nationally at €6. Catholic Action
‘Catholic Action: Uses, Abuses and Excuses’ is the name of a seminal paper written for The Saint George Educational Trust and published in booklet form in the late 1990’s.
The paper struck a deep chord with Bishop Bernard Tissier de Mallerais of the Society of Saint Pius X and led to him publishing his own article on the subject, entitled ‘Catholic Action Defined’, in the August 2003 edition of ‘The Angelus’ magazine.
We link below to the first four chapters of the booklet covering uses and abuses. Suffice it to say that earning one’s salt requires Catholics in action rather than Catholic inaction.
