The profound fact that Syria is the ancient cradle of civilisation, and also a country exceptionally rare in the modern world where Christianity is considered part of the fundamental fabric of the nation, with a breath-taking abundance of historic Christian and non-Christian sites to visit, is currently bought to life by a delegation of French politicians who are in the middle of an official visit to Syria.

Virginie Joron writes that “The defence of Christians in the East must be one of the main priorities of the resumption of our diplomatic relations with Syria.”

The impressions of her first ever visit to Syria confirm that “there is a complete difference” between the reality that she’s witnessing and the false ideas presented about Syria by the governments and mainstream media of France and Europe.  She writes that “It’s time to stop the [ Machiavellianism ] and find peaceful solutions with the Syrian government.”

She writes glowingly of Damascus and how welcoming it still is to tourists and foreign visitors even after the dreadful suffering endured by its inhabitants at the hands of Western geo-political plotting.

“The city is reborn with crowded terraces and there is music everywhere. We feel safe, we feel good. No aggression, no eyes moved, no [ offensive insults ], no hostility in the streets of Damascus. Indeed, we are more than well welcomed. Some are even happy to see French people and be able to speak our language. They come to say hello to us.”
